Movement
Key Principles of Kill Team
Key Principles and Bases
An operative’s base cannot move through terrain, outside the Killzone edge, or through the base of an enemy operative. They can however move through the base of a friendly operative.
Operatives bases can touch, but, once they have finished their move or being setup, they must maintain 100% contact with the Killzone floor, or the vantage terrain they are on – fully self-supported.
This is important to understand when it comes to measuring distances for movement, i.e. an operative will need to move around a corner and not through.
Climbing
Operatives can use their movement to climb vertically up any terrain piece.
Vertical distance for measuring the climb height/distance is treated the same way as standard distance measurements. This includes whole straight line, whole inch increments.
However, each climb is treated as a minimum of 2” regardless of the actual terrain height.
For an operative to climb a terrain piece, it must:
- Be within 1” horizontally and within 3” vertically
- Be visible
- Finish its move on vantage terrain or the Killzone floor
Note
Operatives must finish a move in a location they can be placed — they cannot finish midway through a climb, drop or jump. If this isn’t possible, they cannot begin the move.
Dropping
An operative drops down when they move off a piece of terrain they have climbed or they have finished a jump.
Operatives have a 2” grace for dropping per action. This means that a drop of 2” or more, or two 1” inch drops are not counted against that operative’s total movement for that action.
Jumping
Operatives can jump from Vantage terrain more than 2” from the Killzone floor.
When jumping, an operative can move up to 4” in one straight line increment from the edge of the terrain.
After jumping, an operative must Climb or Drop.
An operative will need to climb any part of the terrain that at the edge it is jumping from, e.g., a rampart.
When jumping to another terrain feature, you can ignore a height difference of 1” or less.
