Scoring
Key Principles of Kill Team
[TODO: whatever I write here on first draft will need tweaking]
The winner is the player with the most victory points after 4 turning points.
There are 3 ways to score points (pts) in turning the battle.
These 3 ways of scoring are through:
- The Crit Op (max 6pts)
- The Tac Op (max 6pts)
- The Kill Op (max 5pts)
Except from the Kill Op, players will not be able to score points in first turning points.
General scoring advice
Kill Team is a points based game with teams operating in very different play styles.
Although it can be tempting to focus on killing as many enemy operatives as possible, this is often not the optimal way to win the game.
You may find yourself with more kills – or even tabling an opponent, but ultimately lose the game.
Crit Op
The Crit op is the main mission for the battle that both teams must compete to complete. These will use the 3 objective markers setup in the Killzone.
Each mission pack will tell you the way in which you score these points.
###Tac Op The Tac Op is a mission that you secretly choose before the game. You and only you can score points for your chosen Tac Op.
Tac Ops are split into 4 types, which correlate to a team’s archetype. These are:
- Infiltration
- Search and Destroy
- Security
- Recon
Tac Op Selection
When selecting your Tac Op before a game, it is important to consider the how the Crit Op and your Opponent’s team/playstyle will influence the battle.
A suboptimal Tac Op could deny your team up to 1/3 of its total points.
Kill Op
The Kill Op is now a staple of the game as of 3rd edition.
The Kill Op awards points based on Kill Grades. The more operatives you incapacitate in a battle, the higher the grade.
To work out your Kill Grade for a battle, use the lookup table shown on the Kill Op card in Approved Ops 25.
The fewer operatives an opposing team starts with, the more points you gain for incapacitating each one.
